Archibald Luncheon

On 3 May 2006 the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney and the Art Gallery of New South Wales presented the 2006 Archibald Prize Luncheon. Held in the Grand Ballroom at the Sofitel Wentworth the luncheon attracted guests from across the country and provided the opportunity to participate in a lively discussion about the nation's favourite and most prestigious prize for portraiture.

Led by Edmund Capon AM OBE, Director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the event featured a panel which a number of 2006 Archibald sitters and selected artists, including the 2006 winner Marcus Wills, sat on. Also on the panel were previous Archibald winners Adam Cullen and Craig Ruddy, and sitters Justice Michael Kirby and Julia Gillard, Shadow Minister for Health. Guests put forward a range of questions, making for an entertaining afternoon about all things Archibald. Over 500 people attended the luncheon, making it the largest ever.
